Mining In Ilsington Event Saturday 22nd February

We have been working with Dartmoor Tinworking Research Group over the last month to find out more about mining in the Ilsington area. In particular we have worked with Ilsington Primary school who looked at old census records, explored the parish and looked at children in mining.

Their work will be exhibited at the Village Hall on Saturday 22nd February as part of an open day organised by the DTRG. The event runs all day and is free to come along to. There will be guest speakers in the morning and a guided walk to the Atlas Tin Mine Burning House – one of the most important surviving buildings associated with Devon tin mining

Moor than meets the eye has now been submitted!

The application to the Heritage Lottery Fund has now been made. This included an electronic application form for the HLF, the Landscape Conservation Action Plan and several files of supporting documentation which have now been delivered to the HLF. You can read the final version of the Landscape Conservation Action Plan here. Now we have until June 3rd for them to meet and make a decision. Over the coming months we will continue to work with partners and local communities to develop further these projects.
